Old Friends

I know, I know, it has been forrrrrrreeeeeeeevvvveeerr since I have written on my blog. I keep coming up with ideas that I want to do, and then I think I should put this blog before that one and then I just end up not writing anything. I really wanted to put up pics from Thanksgiving and Christmas, but that will have to wait or I will never get another post up.We got to see some old friends tonight. They were in town for a few days (they live in Washington state) and tonight for just about 45 minutes we got to see them. It wasn't very long, but we were out of town on Saturday when they were free so we had to settle for a quick meeting at the mall. We had a great time even though the time was so short. It was just like the old days. Cheryl and I talked and Tom and Keith talked. They are going to be missionaries to Uganda. (That's in central Africa for those of you are geography challenged!)

Tom and Cheryl and 8 of their 11 children (no, that is not a typo) are going to Uganda. One of their children will leave on Wednesday with Tom and she will stay in Uganda until the rest of the family gets there in April to work in an orphanage. It sounds very exciting but a little scary to me at the same time. I know that the Lord will watch over them. Tom says that Uganda is not like the pictures we see of Africa on TV and in coffee table books. He says the only thing that you would really notice about Uganda is how impoverished the people are.

It is always so nice to meet up with old friends and pick up where you left off even though we have been separated for several years and the talk is of college, grandbabies and the like instead of babies, diapers and funny things the kids say and do.

Even though our time together this time was short, we know that we will get to see each other again someday. If not here on earth, together in heaven where we will never have to say goodbye.
Here is a picture of their prayer card. Ten out of the eleven children are pictured. The oldest who is married is not in this picture.

Isn't it great how with some people you can just pick up where you left off! I LOVE friends like that. Glad you got to see them before they left for Africa!
